SEAPORT OF SAINT PETERSBURG

The main sea route of the port consists of a Large Ship Fairway, the Kronstadt Ship Fairway and the St. Petersburg Sea Channel with a total length of 33 miles from the western border of the water area to the inner part of the port.


The Kronstadt Ship Fairway passes through the C-1 ship-passing facility of the St. Petersburg flood protection complex. To the west of C-1 it has a width of 150 m. depths from 14 to 16 m, to the east of C-1 the fairway has a width from 80 to 100 m with depths from 11.8 to 14 m.
 

In recent years, the intensity of shipping through the port of St. Petersburg has significantly increased. The number of ship calls has almost tripled, which is a consequence of the organizational measures carried out by the port administration and the construction of new transshipment complexes on both shores of the Gulf of Finland.

In these conditions, the reconstruction of the Main Fairway of the Great Port of St. Petersburg from Kronstadt to the closed part of the canal, along which only one-way traffic of large-tonnage vessels is currently carried out, is of strategic importance.


The seaport "Bolshoy Port of St. Petersburg" includes the following areas: 1, 2, 3, 4 cargo areas, marine passenger area, Vasileostrovsky cargo area, cargo area in the harbor of the Litke base (Kronstadt), cargo area in Lomonosov.
The port accepts vessels with dimensions not exceeding any of the following parameters:
- length - up to 320 m;
- width - up to 42 m;
- draft - up to 11 m (for fresh water).

Under the influence of various factors, the water level in the port can fluctuate significantly. In most cases, the level fluctuations depend on the prevailing winds and can range from -1 to +4
meters relative to the zero of the Kronstadt footstock.

Entry into and exit from the port of vessels with sizes exceeding those specified above is possible only with the written permission of the port captain.

                                                                                MAIN ANCHORAGES

Anchorage area No. 4. The anchorage is intended for foreign vessels and vessels of civil departments of the Russian Federation. The lowest depth is 23.5 m, the ground is silt, sand.

Anchorage No. 4A is intended for vessels of civil departments of the Russian Federation, designed for 4 vessels up to 300 m long and up to 11 m draft and 8 vessels up to 180 m long and up to 10 m draft. Anchoring of vessels is carried out only with the permission of the PRDS and with the permission of the Operational Duty Officer of the          Leningrad Naval Base.

Anchorage No. 4B is intended for "river-sea" type vessels passing through the S-2 ship-passing facility in anticipation of berthing at the port.

Anchorage No. 4B (being designed) is intended for river-sea vessels passing through the C-2 ship-passing facility from and to the port.

Anchorage area No. 5A. The anchorage is intended for the parking of any vessels. The lowest depth is 25 m, the ground is sand.

BUNKERING

About 30 bunker companies are constantly operating in the seaport ”Bolshoy Port of St. Petersburg", 8 of which operate their own fleet. Bunkering of vessels is carried out in accordance with measures to ensure fire safety of bunkering with fuel of vessels, coordinated with the Inspection of the State Port Control.Bunkering of vessels engaged in cargo operations with dangerous goods is prohibited.

The port and auxiliary fleet consists of more than 470 vessels, including 122 tugs, 13 icebreakers, 66 bulk carriers, etc.


Vessels entering the port of St. Petersburg can replenish fresh water and fuel supplies, make repairs of any complexity, purchase provisions and technical supplies. The port can provide electricity supply on board the ship, install telephones of the city network on board or at the berth, organize additional fire watch or security, medical care of the crew.


The port provides survey, agency, towing, pilotage, mooring, and express services.

 

List of services offered by operating companies:
- loading/unloading of vehicles;
- receipt / delivery of goods;
- control of the quantity and condition of the cargo;
- cargo storage.

 

Additional services (works) related to cargo transshipment:
- weighing, inspection, part-time work, repacking, labeling and sorting of cargo;
- additional and special cargo securing on ships;
- development of projects for placing and securing oversized, heavy, non-standard, dangerous and other cargo on vehicles;
- provision of infrastructure for parking vessels that do not carry out cargo operations;
- mooring operations;
- provision of transshipment equipment;
- dry cleaning of cargo spaces of the vessel;
- cargo stowage on board the vessel;
- forwarding service;
- approval of applications for the transportation of imported goods by rail;
- registration of bills of lading and cargo manifests.
